Two local organizations plan to unite to form the Council of Governments to work on long-term social and economic projects for the South Bay.
The South Bay Cities Assn. and the South Bay Corridor Steering Committee will discuss the issue tonight, Redondo Beach Councilman Joe Dawidziak said.
The proposed Council of Governments would apply for federal and state funding for projects that cross city boundaries, such as housing and transportation.
If the organizations agree to consolidate, final approval will be needed from 16 South Bay cities, Los Angeles County, and Los Angeles’ 15th District covering the San Pedro and Harbor Gateway areas, Dawidziak said.
Tonight’s meeting will be at 7 in the music room of the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, 3330 Civic Center Drive.
