Today marks Memorial Day, a day to honor and remember those who died in the nation’s wars. Closed: All government offices, courts, banks, post offices, stock and commodity exchanges, libraries, schools and many businesses. MTA buses will follow Sunday schedules. Celebrations: Services, a free festival and a screening of the film “The Longest Day” will be held at 3 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Los Angeles Center. For details on VA events, see B8. Other services will be at Hollywood Memorial Park, Lincoln Memorial Park in Carson, Rose Hills Memorial Park near Whittier and Riverside National Cemetery.
