Tujunga Man Sentenced for Abuse

A Tujunga man arrested three times in the past seven months for abusing his girlfriend was sentenced to 10 months in jail Friday, according to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office.
Ararat Mansuryan, 27, was also ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from his girlfriend and undergo a year of domestic violence counseling after he pleaded no contest to cohabitant abuse and battery, Los Angeles City Atty. James Hahn said Friday.
The 25-year-old North Hollywood woman first reported the abuse by Mansuryan in September when he showed up drunk at her apartment and began screaming and shoving her. The abuse escalated to punching and finally to choking, authorities said.
Mansuryan, who told police he was a self-employed musician, will begin serving his sentence July 21, said Deputy City Atty. Gary Guess, who handled the case.
