Stars Worth Gazing at Will Be in View at Summer Camps : Basketball: Many of city’s best, including Bailey, Breedlove and Burris, will hone their skills.

Here is a look at 10 top area players, where they’ll be playing and what they’ll be working on this summer:

* Moose Bailey of Loyola, 6-1 point guard, Pump Discovery Shootout, West Coast All-Stars: Bailey has improved his three-point range and dribble-drive to the basket. Needs to work on dribbling with his left hand to keep defenders from overplaying him to the right.

* Clem Breedlove of Jordan, 5-10 guard, Pump Discovery Shootout: The possessor of a true “shooter’s mentality,” Breedlove scored 35 points in a win over Locke on 15-of-33 shooting from the floor. Needs to improve shot selection and scoring from the left side of the floor.

* Ivory Burris of Verbum Dei, 6-1 guard, Pump Discovery Shootout: Burris’ outside shooting will make him a good complement to Deon Williams in the backcourt. Needs work on driving to the basket to keep defenders from playing him straight up.

* Darwin Carter of Manual Arts, 6-1 point guard, Pump Discovery Shootout: Carter is a strong, quick guard who led the Pathfinders in three-pointers made. Needs to improve passing abilities and court vision.

* Robert Lamar Gordon of Washington, 6-6 forward: Gordon’s shooting range and rebounding abilities enable him to play the 3 or 4 position. Good one-on-one defender but needs to raise offensive aggressiveness and defensive intensity.

* Will O’Neal of Dorsey, 6-5 forward, Pump Discovery Shootout: O’Neal’s powerful physique gives him the potential to be one of the top rebounders in the area. Can hit the 15-foot jump shot but needs to work on post moves to become an inside-outside threat.

* Raymond Palmer of Crenshaw, 6-7 forward, Pump Discovery Shootout: Palmer is a good three-point shooter but needs to improve consistency inside the arc. Needs to bulk up or he’ll take a beating guarding other small but powerful forwards.

* Donnie Wilcher of Fremont, 5-9 point guard, Pump Discovery Shootout: With the departure of Tommie Davis, Wilcher now carries the banner of area’s top point guard. Has excellent court vision and makes great decisions leading the fast break. Good three-point range keeps the defense from doubling down. Wilcher’s great intensity can sometimes take him out of the game.

* Deon Williams of Verbum Dei, 6-1 point guard, Artesia Tournament: Coach Mike Kearney says Williams was better as a sophomore than Andre Miller or Jamal Cobbs were at that stage. Good ball-handler and passing ability but needs to become more consistent with the jump shot.

* Ronnie Arch of Crenshaw, 6-6 guard, no summer tournament: Arch is cut from the same mold as former Crenshaw star Reggie McFerren but with a more muscular frame. One of the area’s top spot-up shooters but has trouble creating shots off the dribble.
