A two-day gathering aimed at providing alternatives to gang affiliation attracted more than 2,500 youths to the gospel church Victory Outreach in La Puente late last month.
Young people from ages 12 to 28 attended free lectures, seminars, sports activities, a picnic and a concert featuring Rapper T-Bone. All the events were held at the Victory Outreach, a 15-acre campus at 454 Coberta Ave.
The nondenominational church, headquartered in the City of Industry, has sponsored summer youth and gang outreach events for the past 20 years, including a free summer festival last weekend.
