Housing: Proposed Barrington Plaza Project

Real estate developers are seen by some as Goliath, the big guy, versus David, the little guy. However, when it comes to the proposed Barrington Plaza project (Community News, June 23), David and Goliath are on the same team.
Why? Senior citizens, men, women and families looking for housing, which is in such short supply, will benefit. All of us who want the economy to rebound can take heart that things are beginning to happen.
The Barrington Plaza proposal means that 335 new apartments will be built, of which 67 will be for seniors. And the project will create more than 1,000 construction jobs, a construction payroll of about $30 million and 97 permanent jobs with an annual payroll of $2 million.
The site is an excellent location for housing. It makes sense to add apartment housing along already-developed major corridors served by public transportation.
No battle here. Everyone wins.
