The American Red Cross is seeking donations to help families left temporarily homeless by flooding in Georgia, Alabama and Florida, a spokeswoman said.
Almost 15,000 families have been affected by the flooding, which places the disaster among the most severe emergencies for the Red Cross, spokeswoman Judy Iannacone said.
She said that all disaster assistance is free and is made possible by donations. Checks made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to P.O. Box 11364, Santa Ana, Calif. 92711-1364.
