2 U.S. Carriers to Offer More Osaka Flights: United Airlines and Northwest Airlines Inc. have won permission from Japan’s Transport Ministry to offer the increased service to the city, an official of the ministry’s International Air Transport Division said. United will be allowed to make 21 round-trip flights a week to Osaka, up from the 11 it now makes. Northwest will increase its service to 18 flights from 17, the ministry official said. The changes will take effect after the new Kansai International Airport in Osaka opens Sept. 4, the official said.
