A suspected rapist was arrested Wednesday after the alleged victim saw the man drive by as she was being interviewed by police, who chased him down.
“Officers were talking to the victim when she pointed to a passing car and said, ‘That’s the guy,’ ” said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Robert Courtland of the Rampart Division.
The officers jumped into their patrol car and chased the blue Datsun 280-Z out of the Westlake neighborhood, where the rape allegedly occurred, and onto the southbound Hollywood Freeway about 11 a.m., Courtland said. The pursuit continued south toward Downtown, then north on the Harbor Freeway toward Pasadena, the sergeant said.
The Datsun exited the freeway near Dodger Stadium and was stopped by officers near Figueroa Street and Cypress Avenue, he said.
The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested without incident and booked on suspicion of rape, Courtland said.
