SACRAMENTO — Gov. Pete Wilson has appointed Kate Squires, a Riverside County lawyer who ran unsuccessfully in the June primary for the Republican nomination to the U.S. Senate, to an $88,056-a-year position on the state Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
Squires, of Corona, heads a legal education and publishing company and has experience in corporate law firms.
As a commissioner on the workers’ compensation board, which has quasi-judicial powers, Squires will hear appeals and participate in decisions regarding benefits for workers who are injured at work.
