Criminal charges were filed Tuesday against a man accused of breaking into the Hollywood High School library over the weekend and causing more than $1,000 in damage.
Jerry Douglas Jensen, 32, who lists Torrance as his hometown but is believed to be a transient in the Hollywood area, was charged with trespassing and vandalism in a complaint filed in Hollywood Municipal Court.
The trespassing charge could result in a six-month jail term and $1,000 fine, said Deputy City Atty. Bill Sterling. The vandalism charge carries a special allegation that the damage caused was between $1,000 and $5,000, which enhances the maximum penalty to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine, he said.
Los Angeles Unified School District officials estimated the damage at $1,070.
