Diseases: Lifelong Heroics of a ‘Tin Man’

Re: A Man of Steel, David Altman Rises Above His Debilitating Lifelong “Tin Man’s Disease” (cover story, Aug. 11).

Nancy Hill-Holtzman’s article about David Altman’s success story, with the help of his determined mom, is one for (Steven) Spielberg to let the world know about.

It is almost too good to be true, and if it weren’t that my own developmentally disabled daughter was able to accomplish against all odds, to be gainfully employed, live independently, cook, clean, shop, entertain, I would not believe Altman’s achievement.

Thank you for that uplifting true story.
