LODI, Calif. — The man accused of kidnaping 12-year-old Katie Romanek from her home at knifepoint has pleaded not guilty to 24 felony charges.
Steven Reese Cochran, 25, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of kidnaping the Lodi girl and terrorizing her 16-year-old sister and a 12-year-old friend.
Stockton Superior Court Judge Stephan Demetras said he would set trial for Sept. 6, after a hearing to determine media compliance with subpoenas requesting all film recordings of Cochran’s capture and Romanek’s safe return.
