Countywide : Coast Highway Work Nears Completion
- Share via
A road-widening project along a stretch of Coast Highway between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach is nearly completed, officials said this week.
The $9.1-million project will increase the number of lanes from four to six, said William L. Zaun, the county’s director of public works.
The lanes are needed to accommodate extra traffic generated by new housing developments in the area, known as the Irvine Coast.
Several developments have been built south of Corona del Mar in the past few years, and Newport Coast Drive was recently extended to East Coast Highway.
