OUTLOOK
Most coaches would experience at least a few sleepless nights following the graduation of a talent such as Stanford freshman Chris Draft--The Times 1993 Orange County back of the year. But not Marrujo, who has made a career of keeping the Tigers’ football machine at full strength by developing the right replacement parts. “Chris was great, but he’s gone now and you just have to move on,” Marrujo said. “We’ve had a lot of good players leave before and we’ve always managed to be pretty competitive.” Don’t count on any changes this season. Marrujo has enough talent to win his 11th league title in 14 seasons, and the Tigers should again compete with Savanna and Western for the top spot. Marrujo expects the defense to be among the league’s best--and with good reason. Gray, first-team all-league as a sophomore and junior, dominates at defensive back. And he’s faster and stronger this season. Reilly, first-team all-league last season, is fierce against the run.
