Unocal Opens Offices in Asia: The facilities in Hanoi, Beijing and Singapore will help the company expand its energy resource operations, Unocal Corp. said. It said Southeast Asia is a major focus of its long-term growth strategy. It said its newly formed Unocal Vietnam Ltd. unit is negotiating a production-sharing contract for Block B, a prospective development area off southwest Vietnam. Unocal China Ltd. in Beijing participated in a recent bid for an exploration license in the Bohai Gulf, and Singapore is the new regional headquarters for Unocal’s business development activities in Asia under the new Unocal International Ventures Ltd. unit.
