Classes in lip-reading and desktop publishing, a prep course for the National Council Licensure Examination for nurses and a new citizenship center are among the new services offered through the Reseda Community Adult School.
“We’re trying to serve the community in areas that really need additional services, like older adults,” said Principal Martin Conroy.
The adult school has about 30 branches, with four to six classes devoted to developmentally disabled adults, and will be offering additional refresher courses, Conroy said.
Lip-reading will be taught in conjunction with American Sign Language and hearing-loss compensation techniques on Friday afternoons starting Sept. 16 at the Menorah House in Reseda.
The nursing review course starts Sept. 20 at the adult school campus.
Tuition for the Reseda Community Adult School is always free, but there are small registration fees for some of the courses.
