LAGUNA HILLS : Private-Park Use by City Being Examined
- Share via
At the suggestion of Mayor R. Craig Scott, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department is considering the possibility of staging recreational events at some private parks to increase participation by residents.
Scott has asked the department to look into the feasibility of sponsoring summer concerts or day camps for youths in the private parks at Nellie Gail Ranch and Moulton Ranch housing developments.
Scott, who lives in Nellie Gail Ranch, says many of his neighbors don’t turn out for city-sponsored events because the public parks are too far from their homes.
“People will be more likely to participate if events are in their neighborhood,” Scott said. “I would like to see the fine services of parks and recreation available to all the citizens of Laguna Hills.”
Parks and Recreation Director Dave Lewis said it will be several months before officials decide whether to begin sponsoring events at the private parks.
