Even Fans Getting Blame for Strike
I am tired of all the hypocritical and self-pitying baseball fans faulting the players and owners for the state of the game, when it is actually the fans who are to blame.
Greed, lust, the need for instant gratification--not of the owners or players, but of baseball’s fans.

Now is the time for all good men to wake up and smell the reality. Baseball is no longer the national pastime. Union busting is.

I heartily support the owners’ right to make a profit on their investment. After all, that is the American way. The owners take all the risks and deserve the rewards. The players take no risks with guaranteed contracts and are paid even if they do not play (because of injuries) or perform poorly. I have never heard of a player giving back a portion of his salary after a bad season or being on the DL for periods of time.
On the other hand, there have been instances of players demanding contract renegotiation and hefty raises after a stellar year.

If people want to gripe about salaries, they should gripe about Oprah Winfrey, who can’t hit a curve and doesn’t worry about her rotator cuff.

For every week the strike lasts, the fans should boycott one game starting with opening day next season. Fifty-two thousand no shows. Wow.

It seems that the baseball owners and players are in complete agreement--the ruination of this season and next.
