1993: Fourth at the Southern Section Division III-AA finals; fifth in the Sea View League.
Key returners: Ryan Adams, Sr.; Henry Chian, Sr.; Shahram DeZahd, Sr.; Jake Swanson, Sr.; Andrew Van Note, Sr.; Aaron Ward, Sr.
Key newcomers: Dan Overton, Jr.; John Stansbury, Sr.; Ryan White, Jr.
Outlook: The Sailors are hoping to put a disappointing 1993 season behind them with an experienced 1994 squad. Their top six runners are all seniors, led by DeZahd, the Sea View League’s 1,600-meter champion last spring on the track. DeZahd was fourth at the league’s cross-country finals and finished eighth at the Southern Section Division III-AA championships as a junior. Chian, Van Note and Swanson were all consistent varsity performers a year ago, and Ward and Adams were the Sailors’ 800-meter runners in track. Adams came out of training camp as the Sailors’ leader, while Ward turned in a 1:58.67 clocking at the league finals. Overton has emerged as the leading contender for the seventh spot.
