Santa Clara Still Without a Victory After 41-6 Trouncing by St. Monica

SANTA MONICA — Santa Clara High scored its first points of the season Saturday night against St. Monica.
The Saints, however, are still without their first victory after being trounced, 41-6, in a nonleague game at Santa Monica City College.
St. Monica jumped to a 12-0 first-quarter lead, but Santa Clara narrowed the gap to 12-6 on a one-yard sneak by quarterback Andy Super.
But Santa Clara (0-2) didn’t come any closer. The Mariners scored on five of six possessions en route to a 33-6 lead.
Super completed 10 of 16 passes for 87 yards. Andy Maciel gained 71 yards in 17 carries and Patrick Davis had six catches for 65 yards.
St. Monica’s Steve Pulley completed six of seven passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns. Phil Austin caught touchdown passes of 51, 62 and 73 yards.
