Catfish and Raccoon Are Active at Lake Piru

It’s not often that all the catfish in a lake decide to feed at once. But it seems to have happened at Lake Piru.
“I have no idea why, but we’ve had over 300 pounds of catfish caught since Friday,” said Art Caldara, manager of the Ventura County reservoir.
Ennis Choyce of Altadena had one of the most impressive stringers, catching seven catfish totaling 92 pounds 8 ounces. But everyone seems to be getting into the act.
Caldara said a seven-pounder he had soaking on a string was attacked and eaten by a raccoon.
“He got it at the dock and just tore that thing apart,” Caldara said. “He got my dinner.”
