SEASON AT A GLANCE: Jenkins, promoted to the varsity as a sophomore, began this season with the respect of all Channel League coaches. He gained 494 yards in 75 carries last season, and he already has surpassed that total in three games this year, gaining 519 yards in 63 carries. Jenkins has been a key for Hueneme’s resurgence. The Vikings won only twice in the past five seasons but have won twice in three games this year.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Jenkins, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound running back, had 295 yards by halftime against Camarillo on Friday, and finished with a school-record 356 yards in 20 carries. He scored on runs of 90, 65 and 48 yards. “I didn’t see much but the back of his jersey,” Camarillo Coach Carl Thompson said.
