PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Players Given Weekend Off
- Share via
After getting back to basics for four practices this week, the Raiders will not practice again until Monday because of their bye weekend. To make sure that his team returned next week ready to turn their 1-3 season around, Coach Art Shell gave the Raiders something to think about after Friday’s practice.
“I told them to get away and reflect on where we are,” Shell said. “To rest their bodies and come back Monday ready to go to work.”
Punter Jeff Gossett followed Shell’s advice by returning to Grapevine, Tex., to be with his family for the weekend. Gossett, who leads the NFL with a 47.9-yard average, planned to attend a high school football game Friday night.
