CARSON : Worker Donations Will Help Sick Sea Mammals
- Share via
McDonnell Douglas employees have donated $5,000 to the Marine Mammal Care Center for sick and injured seals and sea lions.
The donation by the aerospace workers is the largest ever received by the nonprofit organization at Ft. MacArthur, director Don Zumwalt said.
The money will help enlarge the center, which has been operating for two years, Zumwalt said. “We’re building a new 15,000-gallon tank and expanding our medical capabilities.”
The marine center rescues and rehabilitates sea mammals from Los Angeles and Ventura county beaches before returning them to the sea.
The money was donated by employees of McDonnell Douglas West in Long Beach and Huntington Beach.
