In the Century League:

El Modena 22, Santa Ana Valley 4--Steve Taylor scored 10 goals and Ryan Keeler added four for visiting El Modena (7-3, 1-0), which beat Santa Ana Valley for the first time in four years. Santa Ana Valley is 0-1 in league.

Villa Park 15, Century 9--Freshman Kyle Baumgarner scored six goals for Villa Park (13-5, 1-0), in the league opener for both teams.

In the Freeway League:

Troy 11, Sunny Hills 10 OT--Troy defeated Sunny Hills for the first time in 27 years, giving the Lancers their second league loss in 24 years in the Freeway League.

Scott Backer, who had four assists, led Troy (12-3, 1-0) with six goals, including both overtime goals. Josh Batchelor had 15 saves. Sunny Hills is 3-13, 0-1.

In the Orange League:

Brea-Olinda 24, Western 2--Sixth-ranked Brea-Olinda seemed to score at will against Western. Tad Murphy led the Wildcats with five goals and Jeff Ritter added four for host Brea-Olinda, which improved to 13-1, 2-0. Western dropped to 5-7, 0-1.

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 13, El Toro 4--Adam McFarland and James Palda scored three goals each for third-ranked Corona del Mar (7-2, 1-0). Allen Basso scored three goals for visiting El Toro (11-3, 0-1), ranked sixth.

Newport Harbor 12, Irvine 7--Mike Peetz scored seven goals for ninth-ranked Newport Harbor (5-6, 1-0). Host Irvine is 6-8, 0-1.

Santa Margarita 6, Woodbridge 1--Steve Ferguson recorded 11 goalie saves for Santa Margarita (7-6, 1-0) leading them to their victory in the Sea View League opener.
