SAN DIEGO — A second fugitive suspected of four murders in three states was arrested Thursday north of San Diego, after slipping through police fingers a day earlier.
Dennis J. Skillicorn, 34, an ex-convict who served 13 years in a Missouri prison for murder, was arrested near Escondido by California Highway Patrol officers after he was spotted hitchhiking.
Skillicorn had been stopped by San Diego police Wednesday but was released after he gave officers a phony name.
Allen L. Nicklasson, 22, who served time in Missouri for assault, was hitchhiking with Skillicorn on Wednesday and was arrested.
Nicklasson and Skillicorn are suspected of slayings in Missouri, Arizona and Nevada.
