CANYON COUNTRY — Robbie Spradlin kicked a 26-yard field goal with eight seconds left to lift Littlerock High to a 9-7 nonleague victory over Saugus on Friday night at Canyon High.
It was Spradlin’s first field-goal attempt. Earlier, he missed a crucial extra point. “I was scared,” he said, crying in the middle of a wild celebration. “But you have to make it.”
Saugus took a 7-6 lead with 10 minutes left on Russell Overstreet’s one-yard run. Derek Lyons added the extra point for Saugus (2-2-1). However, with two minutes left, Littlerock (2-1-2) drove from its 48-yard line to the Saugus nine, setting up Spradlin’s second-down kick.
The Lobos intercepted three passes by Saugus quarterback Kevin Carrasco, who completed four of 21 for 67 yards.
