Simi Valley 21, Channel Islands 7--Junior quarterback Tim Bennett threw touchdown passes to receivers Chris Miller and J.J. Washington to lead the Pioneers at Channel Islands.
Channel Islands (1-5, 0-3) trailed, 14-7, with four minutes to play in the third quarter following senior fullback Tony Moore’s 76-yard touchdown run.
Moore carried eight times for 101 yards, but other Channel Islands runners gained only four yards in 19 carries.
The Pioneers (5-0-1, 3-0) clinched the victory with two minutes to play when running back Chris Azzinaro plunged two yards for the final touchdown. Azzinaro rushed eight times for 60 yards.
Bennett completed 11 of 27 passes for 198 yards and one interception, and Washington caught five passes for 113 yards and intercepted a pass.
