Mattel Inc. reported a 26% higher third-quarter profit and predicted that strong worldwide demand for all its toys will give it a sixth straight year of record sales and earnings.
The El Segundo company earned $131.8 million, or 72 cents per share, during the July-September quarter, compared to $104.7 million, 58 cents per share, a year earlier. Sales were up 16%, from $897 million to $1.04 billion.
Chairman John W. Amerman said the winter holiday season looks promising, and he reported “excellent growth” in U.S. sales of Barbie products.
