COSTA MESA — Lisa McNamee, The Times Orange County girls’ basketball coach of the year in 1991 and ‘93, has resigned her post at Costa Mesa High School.
She has accepted an offer to coach Irvine Valley College’s first-year women’s basketball program, pending approval of the district board of trustees.
McNamee, 32, who coached Costa Mesa to the Southern Section Division III-A championship and a berth in the State Division III title game in 1993, spent two seasons at Costa Mesa.
“The girls who played for me were great at Costa Mesa,” McNamee said. “It was a timing thing, an opportunity to go to the collegiate level came up and I jumped at it.”
McNamee coached at Estancia from 1985 to ’91.
