California Energy Wins Magma Shareholder List: A Nevada state court ruled that Magma Power Co. must supply the Omaha-based company with the names. California Energy Co. is attempting a hostile takeover. Last Friday, the geothermal power company boosted its bid for San Diego-based Magma Power to $38.50 a share, or $925 million, from its earlier offer of $35 a share, or $840 million. The court ruled late Monday that Magma must provide the shareholders’ names to Ben Holt, a director of California Energy who is also a Magma shareholder. Holt had sued Magma individually to obtain the list. “It’s not a significant setback,” said Jon Peele, Magma’s general counsel.
