Ex-Nicaragua President Suffers Heart Attack

MANAGUA, Nicaragua — Former President Daniel Ortega is hospitalized in Cuba after medical tests showed he suffered a minor heart attack three months ago, his Sandinista Party said Thursday.
Ortega was in satisfactory condition at a specialized hospital in Havana, the Cuban capital, the party said.
Ortega, 49, president from 1985 to 1990, is secretary general of the Sandinista National Liberation Front and a leading contender for the party’s presidential nomination in 1996.
