OUTLOOK
Smith isn’t planning on a league championship this season, but he would like to see his team finish third and get a playoff berth. Pioneer Baptist, which won last year’s league title is the favorite. It lost only one player from last season’s squad and dominates other teams with its size. For Heritage Christian, Larson is the only returning starter. She averaged four points as a freshman and received all-league honorable mention. Smith expects much more from her and thinks she will be one of the top players by her senior year. Heritage Christian is a young team with only one senior. The girls are learning basketball, so Smith is teaching a lot of basics. He plans on running a slow, half-court offense, keying on Caparino.
