Old nuclear bomb waste (“Losing the Nuclear Waste War,” Nov. 27) will not, as your writer suggests, pose a “risk to health and safety for more than 10,000 years.” That’s wishful thinking. Plutonium 239, with a half-life of 24,400 years, will remain deadly for the next 300,000 years. And to think we won the Cold War.
