Pedestrian Left Critical by Hit-and-Run Driver

IRVINE — A woman in her 60s or 70s was in critical condition Wednesday night after being struck by a driver who fled the scene, police said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was crossing East Yale Loop near Alton Parkway about 7 p.m. when she was struck by a car, knocking her 50 feet, Police Sgt. Jim Potts said. She was unconscious when police arrived and was taken to Irvine Medical Center with head and leg injuries, Potts said.
