Two Oxnard residents were arrested on Pacific Coast Highway when sheriff’s deputies found a quarter of a kilogram of cocaine inside a vehicle they were driving, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
Martin G. Casteneda, 32, and Hilda M. Hernandez, 21, were booked into County Jail shortly after their arrest Tuesday on suspicion of possessing cocaine with the intent to sell, deputies said.
Deputies had Casteneda under surveillance Tuesday after receiving information that he may be involved in drug dealing in Oxnard.
He and Hernandez were stopped at Mugu Rock as they drove toward Oxnard, deputies said. A police dog detected the cocaine hidden in the rear of Casteneda’s truck, according to authorities. The cocaine, which was packaged in plastic bags, has an estimated street value of about $25,000, deputies said.
