Adam Burt scored with 1:36 left in overtime, giving the Hartford Whalers a 3-2 victory over Colorado on Friday at Denver and spoiling Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy’s attempt to earn his 300th victory.
Roy, who is trying to become only the 12th NHL goalie to win 300 games, couldn’t stop Burt’s long shot, which was screened by Kevin Dineen.
Vancouver 3, Edmonton 2--Russ Courtnall scored 21 seconds into overtime to rally the Canucks past the Oilers at Edmonton.
Scott Thornton and Jason Arnott gave Edmonton a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Tim Hunter made it 2-1 before the period ended and Alexander Mogilny--with his 44th goal--tied the game at 10:39 of the third period.

NHL Notes
Chicago Blackhawk center Jeremy Roenick suffered a concussion and a hairline fracture of his jaw Thursday when he was knocked to the ice by St. Louis forward Geoff Courtnall after scoring a goal during Chicago’s 6-1 victory over the Blues. It was not immediately known how long Roenick, Chicago’s leading scorer, would be idled.
