Schools / Education news : Where Is Sacramento? 500,000 Pennies Away

Vista Verde Elementary School fourth-graders are only about 500,000 pennies short of their fund-raising goal to pay for a trip to Sacramento. They have already collected the first half a million.
Students in classes of Jeanette Burrows and Patty Laubbacher have been collecting the pennies since September to reach their $10,000 goal. The two teachers are hoping to take students to the state Capitol and other historic sites in May to enhance their studies of California history.
