Saltarelli a Pro or Opportunist?

The election is over for now and the results are in. Is everybody happy? Some are and some aren’t. Many people I speak with are not very pleased with the choices we have for county supervisor.

One candidate is being term-limited out of his Sacramento position, so he decided to run for county supervisor so he can continue drawing a public paycheck. Is this what term limits are all about? And what local government qualifications does he bring to the job? The other candidate is a nice young man totally devoid of government/management experience.

We have major problems in Orange County that need to be addressed by someone who understands the various ramifications of the problems, as well as how to solve them. How about a write-in campaign for current Supervisor Don Saltarelli, who has a lengthy record of honesty, integrity and problem solving?

We need pros with qualifications like this rather than amateurs! Let’s unite behind someone like Don Saltarelli as a write-in candidate who we know can do the job and who demonstrates it to us every day!

* Regarding the 3rd Supervisorial [District] race: To paraphrase Joseph Welsh, have they no shame?

Gov. Wilson told us, “Elect me as your governor, and I’ll give you four years and not run for national office during the four years.”

Don Saltarelli accepts an interim appointment as supervisor with the proviso that he’ll not run for the office in November 1996.

Now that Mr. Saltarelli is experiencing the power and influence of his lifetime, he feels he can emulate his appointer and renege on his promise, as Wilson did.

Throw Helen Wilson into the mix, and she believes she is a kingmaker. She couldn’t beat Conroy or Spitzer despite her heavy-duty endorsements, so she strokes Saltarelli’s ego and subverts him to do the job she couldn’t do.
