Zeile’s Power Helps Phillies Rally

Todd Zeile hit two homers, including a three-run shot in the ninth inning that rallied the Philadelphia Phillies over the Montreal Expos, 9-8, Thursday night at Montreal.
Zeile, who hit a solo home run in the eighth, capped a four-run comeback in the ninth.
The Phillies trailed, 8-5, entering the ninth, but Mel Rojas (3-1) issued a leadoff walk to Kevin Stocker and a one-out walk to Mickey Morandini. Mark Whiten hit a run-scoring single and Zeile followed with his second homer.
Florida 5, Atlanta 3--Charles Johnson hit a two-run homer and Gary Sheffield added a solo shot at Atlanta as the Marlins ended a four-game losing streak.
The Marlins built a 5-0 lead over Tom Glavine after four innings and Robb Nen recorded Florida’s first save of the season.
Chicago 7, San Francisco 6--Luis Gonzalez had three hits, including a two-run double in a five-run first inning, and the Cubs took advantage of four Giant errors at Chicago.
Pittsburgh 6, St. Louis 2--Al Martin and Orlando Merced homered on consecutive at-bats at St. Louis and Paul Wagner won his third consecutive start.
Wagner, who lost 16 games last season, retired 12 batters in a row at one point before Gary Gaetti hit his second home run with one out in the seventh.
