Saying that firefighters deserve special praise, the City Council has proclaimed May 11 as Fire Service Recognition Day.
The council unanimously passed a resolution that urges all Villa Park residents “to become better acquainted with the Orange County Fire Authority’s firefighters, their apparatus and equipment, and the many professional services they provide to the community.”
The new countywide fire authority, formerly the Orange County Fire Department, provides fire protection for Villa Park.
The council said Fire Service Recognition Day’s purpose is to commend “the men and women of the Orange County Fire Authority for their dedication and personal commitment to the community.”
