A Voice Lost in City Hall Debate
* As we approach Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, this naturalized citizen wonders whether he was lied to by the judge who told him this was the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I was not allowed to speak at the council meeting about Thousand Oaks’ $60-million capital budget. Is this taxation without representation? Nor was I allowed to speak in the previous meeting despite meeting their quota of two cards.
As one who has tried to participate in all their meetings for the past three years, I thought that this was about “big egos.” I was wrong. Our taxes have been blown away and are being squandered while some people at City Hall and their lackeys are lining up their pockets.
