Arm Aneurysm Found in Cone

Associated Press

Pitcher David Cone, sidelined by numbness in his fingers, has a “slight aneurysm” in his right arm that is treatable, the New York Yankees said Tuesday night.

“I don’t know how long he’s going to be out,” Yankee General Manager Bob Watson said.

The Yankees said that tests Tuesday at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center revealed the aneurysm, an abnormal ballooning of a blood vessel.

Cone, 4-1 with a league-leading 2.03 earned-run average, had experienced problems since April 17.
