Danny Walker, who led Fremont High into the City 4-A basketball finals last season, will join Shannon Swillis of Fresno and five junior college players in making up Coach Henry Bibby’s first recruiting class at USC.
The Trojans have signed Walker, a 6-foot-1 outside shooting specialist, along with guards Larry Ayuso (6-2) and Ken Sims (6-5), from New Mexico Junior College.
Forwards signed are Swillis, a 6-6, 215-pounder from Bullard High; Ramy Shoukry, a 6-7, 215-pounder from Collin County College in Plano, Texas, and Newport Harbor High; Anthony White, a 6-7, 215-pounder from L.A. City College and Gary Williams, a 6-7, 250-pounder from Riverside Community College.
“We feel that we signed--at this late date--the best possible players that were out there,” Bibby said.
Bibby replaced Charlie Parker as coach midway through last season.
