Mater Dei’s Young Pitches a No-Hitter

Marissa Young pitched a no-hitter in Mater Dei’s 18-0 victory over Marina in a Southern Section Division I first-round softball game Friday at Mile Square Park. It was a rematch of last year’s section final.

Young (14-1, 0.07 earned-run average), struck out 11 batters.

Kelsey Kollen, Lisa Tully, Robin Walker and Jodi Schicker each were three for four for the Monarchs (26-1). Marina finished the season 13-13-1.
