Marlins Put Brown on the Disabled List

The Florida Marlins put pitcher Kevin Brown on the 15-day disabled list because of a severe bone bruise and an inflamed nerve in his right leg.
The Marlins did not immediately call anyone up to take his place. Brown was hit on the leg by line drives in his last two starts and had trouble running.

Even minor league teams beat up on the Detroit Tigers.
Eric Wedge hit two of Toledo’s six home runs as the triple-A Mud Hens routed Detroit, 14-1, in an exhibition game.
Raul Casanova, Kevin Baez, Micah Franklin and John Cotton also homered for Toledo, the Tigers’ top farm club.
Baez, who has not homered during the regular season for Toledo, had four RBIs.
In the majors, Detroit is a major league-worst 12-33 with a 7.35 ERA, on track to shatter the record of 6.71 set by the 1930 Phillies.
