ATLANTA — Nineteen people were injured when two cars from a commuter train jumped the track while passing a faulty switch, authorities said.
The injured, which included the train’s driver, were taken to hospitals, but no one was seriously hurt. The driver underwent routine drug and alcohol testing.
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority officials estimated that 100 to 150 passengers were on board the northbound train when it derailed about 5:30 p.m. EDT Saturday near the Atlanta suburb of Buckhead. The incident disrupted service along the line for several hours.
