Middle blocker Elaina Oden of Irvine had 18 kills and four blocks to lead the U.S. women’s national volleyball team to a 15-7, 15-10, 15-8 victory over Russia in the BCV Volley Cup in Montreux, Switzerland.
Outside hitter Tara Cross-Battle of Long Beach had 14 kills, two blocks and three service aces. Team captain Tammy Liley of Westminster had 13 kills and two aces as Team USA improved to 2-0 in the tournament and 10-10 this year.
Team USA will get its toughest test of the tournament when it plays Cuba today.
