$4.1 Million Allotted to City Department

Cementing the last brick in its proposed $32.6-million budget proposal for 1996-97, the Simi Valley City Council on Monday trimmed nearly $250,000 from a proposed $4.3-million spending plan for the Department of Environmental Services.
Council members cut funding for studies on tree landscaping, noise mitigation and standards for declaring some city streets state scenic highways.
However, the council approved spending $5,200 for a photocopier for the department and four hand-held radios for its code enforcement officers.
The cuts brought the proposed environmental services budget down to about $4.1 million. The environmental services budget makes up about one-eighth of the city’s $32.6-million spending plan.
The City Council is scheduled to take a final vote on the entire Simi Valley budget plan Monday night.
